Networking For Successful Real Estate Investing
A successful real estate investor masters the art of networking. "Sounds" pretty intimidating to someone who associates networking with sales, right? Well, networking is as simple as saying hello to another person. That's correct. All of us say hello to people everyday, agreed? Of course we do.
Networking can be accomplished in many forms. As you read this article, decide with which form of networking you are the most comfortable, as you use it with ease, and slowly employ the other forms of networking as you go along. Many investors test all forms in the beginning and use the most successful networking strategies more often then the less successful. Ensure that you eventually use all networking strategies that you can think of for successful real estate investing.
One of the best ways is to hand out your business cards. Yes, you should have already have business cards if you want to become a successful real estate investor. There are different ideas on how to hand out business cards. Some investors take thirty minutes a day just handing out business cards to anyone they meet. Others hand out their business cards through out the day. Others even set a number of cards they hand out each day, such as ten cards a day. Another way to distribute your business cards is to give several to family and friend, the mail carrier, attorneys, realtors, etc. Do what works for you. You must, I repeat, must get your business cards circulated.
In networking you must promote yourself. Promoting yourself is talking to people. Talk to people where ever you go. When you visit the grocery store, Starbucks, Home Depot, Lowe's, restaurants (post your cards on their bulletin board), doctor's office, car dealership, bankers, mortgage brokers, construction tradesmen, other investors, code enforcement officers, CPA's, anywhere you go, talk to people about your real estate investing business. Yes, you guessed it. When you talk to people, give them your card.
Other networking techniques employ flyers, door hangers, direct mailing, radio and TV advertising, and newspaper advertising as well.
Network at live seminars, tele-seminars, lunch and learn meetings, club meetings, real estate investor clubs, golf course and anywhere there is a group gathering. Pick a group with which you feel comfortable and target that group. As you get more comfortable with target networking, target other groups as well. You will be amazed at the results.
A positive attitude is an absolute essential to successful networking. If you don't have a positive attitude about your business, who will? Be motivated. If you are motivated it will show in your actions and speech. More clients will be willing to work with you when they see that you have a positive attitude and are motivated, not only to help yourself, but to help them as well.
Network, Network, Network. If people don't know you are a real estate investor, your business won't thrive. Commit yourself to making a certain number of contacts per day! You make the decision on the number (five, ten, fifteen). Once you decide on the number track your contacts each and every day. If it's too easy increase the number. If it is not attainable, reduce the number of contacts each day. Stay committed.
